Alberta invites 150 candidates with CRS 300 in the latest draw

Alberta conducted its fourth draw for 2020 on 20^th February inviting 150 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. Candidates with CRS scores as less as 300 received an invitation in the latest draw.

The Alberta Express Entry Stream does not need candidates to have a job offer from Alberta to be considered for an invitation. However, candidates must have a valid profile in the Federal Express Entry Pool.

The Canadian Express Entry Program manages the candidate pool for the three major economic immigration programs of Canada:

• Federal Skilled Worker Program
• Federal Skilled Trades Class
• Canadian Experience Class

Eligible candidates are scored on human capital factors like age, education, work experience, Canadian work experience, language skills etc. The scoring is done based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Candidates who score the highest receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Permanent Residence of Canada.

Candidates who obtain a provincial nomination enhance their CRS score in the Express Entry Pool by 600 points. The added points ensure that the candidate receives an ITA to apply for Canada PR in the subsequent Express Entry Pool draws.

The latest Alberta draw invited candidates with a CRS of 300. If such candidates receive a provincial nomination, their CRS scores will increase by 600 points to reach 900. The minimum cut-off in the latest Federal Express Entry draw was 471. With 900 points, a candidate can be more than sure that they will receive an invite to apply for Canada PR.

What is the eligibility for the Alberta Express Entry Stream?

To be considered for an invite under the Alberta Express Entry Stream, you must have an active profile in the Federal Express Entry Pool.

You must also have relevant work experience in an occupation that supports the diversification priorities and economic development of Alberta.

The AINP does not have a list of eligible occupations.

You do not need to have a job offer from Alberta to be eligible under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

However, the following candidates are prioritized by the AINP:

• Those who have a valid job offer from an employer in Alberta
• Those who have graduated from a Canadian educational institution and have a job offer from Alberta
• Those who already have a parent, child or sibling living in Alberta

Alberta has issued 651 invitations through the Alberta Express Entry Stream so far in 2020. Last year, the Alberta Express Entry Stream sent out 11,137 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.
