57 US colleges offer exciting scholarships to overseas students

57 US Colleges are now offering exciting scholarships to overseas students. This is as a part of the national campaign ‘# You Are Welcome Here’. It was started as an initiative by 9 colleges to encourage overseas students to study in the US. The numbers of these colleges have now increased to 57.

The colleges that are participating in the campaign have committed to offering minimum 2 yearly scholarships. These will be renewable and cover minimum 50% of the tuition expense of overseas students in next fall.

The institute leading the campaign is the US Temple University that launched it in May 2018. Its President Richard M Englert said that the initiative is a pledge to diversity. It is a vow to create opportunities in education in the US for overseas students from all continents and cultures, added Englert.

The response to participate in this national campaign is great, said Richard M Englert. The US Colleges and institutions have affirmed their dedication to cultivating enhanced cultural understanding, he added. These include large public Universities located all over the US as well as community colleges, as quoted by the Study International.

Overseas students inclined to avail the scholarship must possess foreign citizenship outside the US. They must also apply for admissions to any one of the 57 participating colleges or University. It is only after this they must submit the ‘# You Are Welcome Here’ application. The deadline for applications is 15 December 2018. This is for the scholarships commencing in fall 2018.

The scholarships offers are a recent expansion of the campaign in social media. This was launched after the US presidential elections in 2016. Its aim was to demonstrate the openness of US institutions to overseas students.
