Germany’s Triple Win Program for Indian nursing professionals

Germany is facing shortage of skilled nursing staff and experts predict that approximately 500,000 nurses will be required by 2030. In order to facilitate the migration of trained nurses to Germany, Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the International Placement Services (ZAV) of the German Federal Employment Agency launched the Triple Win Programme in 2013.

The Triple Win Program focuses on recruiting qualified nurses from other countries, such as from India, Indonesia, and Philippines to migrate to Germany and fill the nursing staff shortages.

Training and support for Indian nurses in Germany

Licensed Indian nurses must complete technical and language training in order to practice in Germany. They not only find job opportunities in Germany but also receive support in both personal and professional development. Within a year of arrival, their credentials are formally recognized.

Benefits of the Triple Win Program for Indians

The German government employs the "Triple Win" strategy to ensure benefits for all immigrants involved that help both their home country and their country of origin, this includes:

  • Nurses can find job opportunities and receive support for professional and personal development.
  • Standard operating procedures ensure fair compensation and equal working conditions.
  • Only partner nations with a surplus of trained nurses are allowed to work with the Federal Employment Agency and GIZ in order to guarantee a fair and sustainable procedure.
  • To solve the skills gap in the German job market, hospitals and senior care facilities can hire qualified nurses.
  • Candidates receive free placement assistance, language and technical training, and integration support.
  • Cost of medical check-ups and measles immunization which are required before travelling is covered in the program.
