Recent reports by Statistics Austria revealed that around 11,050 immigrants received Austrian Citizenship between January and June in the first half of 2024. The number of naturalized citizens recorded in the same period last year increased by 66%.
Around 6,658 immigrants who acquired Austrian Citizenship were temporary residents. Reports show that 3244 people were Austrian residents for a minimum of six years, and 8,256 people were naturalized on the basis of legal entitlement.
Among Austrian residents, around 393 people received Citizenship through marital bonds, and around 261 naturalized people have been living in in Austria for more than 15 years. In the first half of 2024, around 2189 people received Citizenship on the basis of extension.
Among foreign naturalized immigrants who were naturalized in 2024, the majority were from Israel, Syria, the US, the UK, and descendants of the Nazi regime. Syrians top the list of foreign immigrants who acquired Citizenship in Austria in the first half of 2024.

Recent statistical data shows that around 48.6 % of newly naturalized citizens were women, among whom 33% were aged below 18. Around one-fifth or 2267 people of foreign immigrants who acquired Citizenship were born in Austria itself. Almost 1376 newly naturalized citizens lived in Upper Austria, followed by Styria, Salzburg, Burgenland, and Vienna.
