Bipartisan agreement brings relief to H-1B visa holders and their families in US

In a bipartisan agreement supported by the White House, a significant relief has been announced for H-1B visa holders and their families.  The National Security Agreement shows that approximately 100,000 holders of H-4 visas have automatic work authorization. These people are the spouses and kids of a particular class of H-1B visa holders.

H-1B visa crucial for technology companies in the US

The H-1B visa is essential for technology organizations as it permits them to hire foreign workers in speciality jobs that need theoretical or technical skills. The bill seeks to expand work permits giving opportunities for families and guaranteeing that young children who are vulnerable and unaccompanied receive paid legal assistance.

Green Cards for Indian workers in the US

This agreement will particularly help Indian tech workers who have been waiting for a long time for Green Cards. Having Green Cards will allow the spouses of holders to work and reduces any deportation risks for their children.

Issuance of 158,000 employment based green cards in US

The measure adds aging out protection for children of long term H-1B visa holders who kept their H4 status for a total of eight years. Furthermore, it allocates an additional 18,000 employment based green cards every year following next five years, which means that US will issue 158,000 employment-based green cards in total for the next five years.

Expanded work authorization and support for asylum seekers in US

The Act grants work authorization to about 25,000 K-1, K-2, and K-3 non-immigrant visa holders, as well as approximately 100,000 H-4 spouses and children of specific H-1B non-immigrant visa holders who have filed immigrant petitions.

The bill allows asylum seekers to work after receiving positive protection screening results, reducing the current 180-day waiting period.

Issuance of additional 250,000 immigrant visas in US

It prioritizes family reunification and increases the quota on immigrant visas by adding 250,000 visas over five years. The bill also provides relief to over 250,000 individuals, many of whom are of Indian descent who entered the US as minors on their parents work visas.
