On June 01, 2024, Germany launched the new Opportunity Card to invite skilled workers to migrate and look for employment opportunities in the country. The Germany Opportunity Card, also known as 'Chancenkarte,' allows job seekers from non-EU countries to look for jobs while staying in Germany for up to 12 months. Skilled immigrants can migrate to Germany with an Opportunity Card and explore the robust job market in Germany.

How does the German Opportunity Card work?

The German opportunity card uses a points-based system to assess and select candidates based on their professional and personal attributes. Applicants must secure a minimum of 6 points under the Germany Opportunity Card Score Calculator.

Candidates applying along with their spouse can score additional points. Extra points are also awarded to candidates with C1-level proficiency in English or A2-level proficiency in German.

 

Once your Germany Opportunity Card is approved, you can collect it from the German Embassy or Consulate where you applied. The card allows you to migrate to Germany and reside in the country for up to 12 months. While searching for employment opportunities, you can also work up to 20 hours per week in one or more part-time jobs in Germany.
