What is the UK Skilled Worker visa?

The UK Skilled Worker visa is a points- based visa granted to skilled immigrants who want to work and live in the country. The candidates must have a valid job offer and a sponsorship from an UK employer to be considered for the visa. The candidates can stay in the country for up to 5 years.

What are the requirements for a UK Skilled Worker visa?

Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility requirements to be considered for a Skilled Worker visa:

  • A minimum of 70 points in the points calculator grid
  • A Bachelor’s degree or work experience of 2 years of a job present in the eligible occupations list
  • A valid job offer
  • Occupation code as per the eligible job occupations list
  • Employed under a UK employer
  • English language proficiency of at least B1 level 
  • Minimum income requirement of £38,700 annually
  • Workers in Healthcare must have a minimum annual income of £29,000
  • Specialist and Senior Workers must have an annual income of £48,500 
  • Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) to meet lower income requirements

 

What are the documents required for a UK Skilled Worker visa?

Individuals applying for a UK Skilled Worker visa must submit certain documents that include:

  • Certificate of sponsorship reference number that is given by the employer 
  • A valid and recent passport or any other document that proves your nationality or identity
  • Annual income and job title
  • Employer’s name and the sponsor licence number that is given on the certificate of sponsorship (CoS)
  • Individuals working in fields like education, Healthcare, therapy, and social services must provide a criminal record certificate.
  • If you do not have a certificate of sponsorship, then you must provide proof of funds to support yourself in the UK.
  • If you are bringing dependents, then you must provide evidence of the relationship with your children or legal partner.
  • If your work involves researching a sensitive topic at a PhD level, then you need to obtain an ATAS certificate as requested by your employer.
