What is the maximum processing time for a UK Skilled Worker Visa?

The processing time for a UK Skilled Worker Visa application is dependent on your eligibility, the submission of the required documents, and the place from which you are applying from. The following table lists the maximum time taken to process a UK Skilled Worker Visa.

Place of the application

Processing time

Outside the UK

3 weeks

Inside the UK

8 weeks

What are the priority and fast-track services for getting the visa?

If you are applying from outside the UK and are willing to pay an additional fee, then the visa will be processed via priority processing. It will take around 5 days to receive a visa status with this route. You can pay for super-priority processing to receive the visa decision by the end of the day.

You can access priority processing if you have proved your identity in an interview at the UKVCAS centre or via the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app.

The processing fees for priority and super-priority are as follows:

Application Type

Fee

Priority settlement visa service – out of country

£500

Priority non-settlement visa service – out of country

£500

Super priority visa service – out of country

£1000

Super priority service – in-country

£1000

Expedited processing – Priority service – in-country

£500

How is the processing time affected by the time of year and other factors?

There are other factors that may affect the processing time of your UK visa application. These include:

Caseload

The UKVI is the busiest during the summer season, and other factors like the priorities of the Home Office may delay the processing time of the visa.

Where do you apply from

The country where you apply from may impact the visa processing time for various reasons. They are as follows:

  • Agreements and relationship arrangements between your country and the UK
  • The efficiency of the administrative systems in both countries
  • Present conditions in both countries
  • Documentation from your country and searching for its equivalent in the UK
  • If your country is a member of the EEA

Check ahead with the consulate in your country to avoid any processing delays.

Insufficient or incorrect information

If your application has insufficient or incorrect information then it takes longer to process the UK Skilled Worker Visa. There is a high chance the UKVI may stop processing and request additional information to give a decision.

To avoid this step, check the application carefully and ensure that all the necessary information and documents have been provided before submitting.
