What is the IHS fee for a UK Skilled Worker Visa?

The IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge) fee for a UK Skilled Worker Visa is around £1,035 for the primary applicant and around £776 for child applicants and students. UK Skilled Worker Visa holders should pay the IHS fee to cover their healthcare expenses during their stay in the UK. The total IHS fee is calculated based on how many years the primary applicant is granted. For example, a 5-year UK Skilled Worker Visa will cost around 5 x £1,035 = £5,175 for a single applicant for the time period of their visa.

If the application is approved for a time period of 6 months, then the applicant has to pay half the annual rate for that duration. But, if the approval is for more than a duration of 6 months, then the applicant has to pay for the whole year. It is compulsory to pay the IHS fee to get approval for a UK Skilled Worker Visa application.

Step 1: Register at the service centre before using the service.

Step 2: Answer the questions relating how much IHS fee you have to pay or if you are exempted.

Step 3: If you are not exempted, you are required to pay the IHS fee online.

Step 4: After paying the IHS fee, you will receive a mail with the IHS reference number. This reference number must be written down

  • On the cover of your UK Skilled Worker Visa application, if you are applying from outside the country
  • On the cover sheet, if you are applying while staying in the UK
  • On the UK Skilled Worker Visa application forms, if you are applying by post
