For an applicant to be eligible to apply for Australian PR, one must have a minimum of 65 immigration points. These points are calculated based on various elements such as:
Age: The applicants who are between the ages of 18 and 44 secure points.
English Language Proficiency: The English Language proficiency test is mandatory for all applicants. Australian authorities accept scores of IELTS and PET English language proficiency tests.
Work Experience: If a person has worked for 3/5/8 years in the chosen occupation in the last five years, they accumulate certain points. Similarly, applicants with similar experience in the Skilled Occupation list of Australia are entitled to certain points.
Educational qualifications: The applicant can accumulate points if they have a recognized bachelor's or higher degrees such as Ph.D. 0r if the applicant has completed a course in Australia with a minimum of 2 academic years or more.
Partner Skills: The applicant gains points if their spouse meets the basic requirements such as skills assessment results, educational qualification, and English Language proficiency.

One can gain more points in the language proficiency test as well as in the work experience in the related field.
