In the globalized and digitized world, the world has become more integrated. Things that we could not envision before are happening today. We get news in real-time from any part of the world through the internet and can search and shop for services online without having to visit physical stores.
On the flip side, we get reports and news that are misleading or downright false, even on the internet. We should be able to develop our insights to identify what may be true and authentic.
Likewise, there has been a lot of misinformation about Australia and visa-related information about that country. It is happening because the information is being passed without anyone confirming it, causing panic among migrants wanting to relocate to Australia. This article will attempt to disprove the top three myths related to Australia immigration.
As the country, also known as the Land Down Under, is located in the southern hemisphere, it is presumed that the climate in Australia is hot all through the year. It is a fact that Australia’s average temperature is higher compared to countries in Europe and North America, but it is not a boiling-hot nation. Seasons in countries located south of the equator are the other way around compared to those in the Northern Hemisphere. Australia has winters from June to August and summers from November to February. This is the main reason behind the confusion, causing people to think Australia does not have winters.
People associate Australia with either Sydney or Melbourne, it most well-known cities. They also think one of them is the Oceania country’s capital. But Canberra is the home of the government of Australia, though Sydney and Melbourne, which are truly world-class cities, are places where most of the country’s population resides. Though it is the world’s sixth-largest country, it is home to only 26 million people. There are acres of space across Australia where hardly anyone lives. In fact, this is part of the charm of this country which is also known as the land of plenty. That is the reason it has plenty of natural resources and varieties of flora and fauna also. A substantial percentage of Australian nationals trace their ancestry back to faraway lands. Nevertheless, Sydney is the capital of the state of New South Wales, while Melbourne is the capital of Victoria, another state.
In the same vein, there are myths related to sensitive issues like work visas, permanent residency (PR), and work permits in Australia. It is a widely prevailing myth that whoever studies in Australia will surely get its PR. There is no basis for this myth whatsoever.
Though most people who have studied there may have become Australia’s permanent residents, not all get one just by passing out of its universities. To get a permanent residency, an individual needs to have adequate educational qualifications, good work experience, proficiency in English (IELTS, PTE), and the ability to be able to integrate into Australian culture. Therefore, it is not easy to gain permanent residency in Australia.
The other myth is that people who have gained skills and work experience in an occupation that is in demand in Australia will get a visa seamlessly. This is also not the case if they have acquired in a country whose culture is far different from that of Australia, say Egypt or Argentina.
Australia has in place a regulatory body that verifies if a particular individual with skills can be considered an applicant for permanent residency. In such a case, proficiency in English and that person’s ability to adjust to Australian work conditions will play a significant role.
Work visa, or permanent residency applications will go through the most rigorous testing processes. Amplifying achievements on their application of expressions of interest (EOI) does not make it easier for individuals to get Australian work visas or PRs. Applicants should be wary of committing such grave mistakes as it will get them blacklisted for life. Besides, it is also unethical. Visa officers are very smart people. They would have gone through the visa applications of many unscrupulous individuals and, therefore, would be well aware of the practices they adopt.
All people aspiring to work or settle in Australia should only mention educational qualifications, work experience, and skills that are authentic on the EOI. In the final phase of the visa process, applicants would need to present all the original required documents to prove that they are genuine, failing which their visas will be outrightly rejected.
