The Rhodes Scholarships are offered for a degree at the Masters level at the Oxford University. This can be any Postgraduate Degree of full time in nature. A class of 88 Scholars is chosen annually from select nations. These include India, the US, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland, Namibia, Malawi, Lesotho, Botswana, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, Kenya, Commonwealth Caribbean, Jamaica, Hong Kong, Germany, Canada, Bermuda, and Australia.
The Rhodes Trust offers the Oxford University Rhodes Scholarships. The deadline for sending the application differs depending on the nationality. The value of the scholarship includes Tuition fee, Full Funding, onwards and return air tickets to Oxford, and Stipend, as quoted by the Guardian.
The RS are awarded at the Postgraduate level that supports exceptional and all-round students at the Oxford University. They offer transformative prospects for extraordinary individuals.
The scholarships are offered by the Rhodes Trust. This is in collaboration with John McCall MacBain and other liberal patrons. Rhodes Scholarships were founded in 1903 as per the will of Cecil Rhodes. It is oldest and possibly the most coveted Overseas Graduate Scholarship Program globally.
Cecil Rhodes had a distinct vision in founding the scholarship program. It was to develop exceptional leaders with the willpower to crusade the ‘world’s fight’. Performance of public duties would be their esteemed highest aim. It was also aimed to promote international peace and understanding. 4 criteria are outlined in his will for selecting scholars:
