If we tell you that you have just one month to study for your IELTS exam, then you must be wondering how well you can make use of the one month to study effectively for the exam. One thing you can do is to make a schedule to study for the exam. The schedule should cover all the parts of the IELTS so that you are confident in attempting all the sections.
IELTS coaches and experts advise that you should plan to spend at least one to two hours of study every day and students who are not proficient in English will have to spend more hours because they will need time to review the incorrect answers of their practice exercises.
You can always modify the study plan based on your schedule. While it is good to focus on all the parts of the IELTS exam, it is better that you pay greater attention to your weak areas.
Reading and writing skills
Do not focus more on reading if you can read and understand well enough. Perhaps, you lack the ability to write. Perhaps, expressing your thoughts in writing is difficult for you. When it's like that, maybe it's time to concentrate on developing writing skills.
Focus on grammar skills
Focusing on studying grammar will be helpful but at the same time, you shouldn't waste more of your time on complex structures. It would not be a good idea to buy loads of grammar books, and try to improve one's grammar. Alternatively, you should concentrate on some practical ways to learn and develop your grammar.
Listening and speaking skills
To develop your listening and speaking skills watch some English videos. English films can help you familiarize yourself with various speech styles or accents too.
Make a proper schedule
Proper preparation can help to plan easier. Here are some tips:
Get familiar with the test
You will need to be aware of the different parts of the IELTS and ways to answer them. The best thing about IELTS is it's predictable. Attempting more practice tests will help you know what to expect.
