More New Zealand Student Visas for Indian Students are being aimed said the High Commissioner of New Zealand in India Joanna Kempkers. She was addressing the ‘India - New Zealand Academic Conclave' being held in New Delhi.
The Envoy said that several initiatives are being taken by New Zealand to attract more Indian students. This includes launching the 3-year Post-study Work Visa for overseas students, added Joanna Kempkers. Around 20,000 fresh Indian students are arriving at New Zealand annually, she informed, as quoted by the Business Standard.
Efforts are being made to attract increased numbers of Indian Students to Universities in New Zealand said the Ambassador. There are 8 Universities in New Zealand along with several institutions aided by the Government, added Kempkers. Enhanced quality is the focus of New Zealand Universities. It is for this reason that 1000s of overseas students are arriving here every year, she said.
The academic conclave builds upon a diverse range of measures as per the statement at the conclave. These are aimed at bringing New Zealand at the forefront as the favored overseas destination for students. There is a 15% in the numbers of Indian students opting to study in Universities in New Zealand, added the statement.
South, South East Asia and Middle East Regional Director of Education for New Zealand also addressed the conclave. It is delighting that Indian students are choosing to Study in New Zealand and future-proofing their careers, said the Director. Their numbers are constantly increasing in the recent years, added the Regional Director.
Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia also participated in the conclave. He sought collaborations with the overseas academics. This was with respect to necessary initiatives required and understanding the dynamics of higher education.
