Australia PR has a validity of 5 years. The Permanent Resident can apply for renewal of their PR visa through the Resident Return Visa pathway under Subclass 155 and Subclass157. The Resident Return Visa (RRV) provides the PR with the ability to travel in and out of the country when the PR visa is lapsed or terminated, thus allowing them to maintain the Permanent Residency status.

If applied through Subclass 155 the applicant can travel in and out of the country for a term of 5 years. Whereas if the applicant has applied through Subclass 157 the applicant can travel in and out of Australia for a period of 3 months only.
