Can I bring my family on a Germany Job Seeker Visa?

German Job seeker visa holders are not allowed to bring dependents or family members to Germany. However, you can bring your family after you get an employment offer from a German employer. Candidates with a valid job offer in Germany can apply for a German work Permit. A German work visa allows you to work and live in Germany along with your family members.

 

Germany Family Reunification Visa

You can bring your family members to live with you in Germany on a Family Reunification Visa. The German family visa allows nationals from non-EU countries working in Germany to bring their family members. You can sponsor your spouse and dependent children via a family reunification visa if you fulfill the eligibility criteria specified. The sponsored members can migrate, study, and work in Germany.

 

Who is eligible to sponsor their family to Germany?

You would be eligible to sponsor your family if:

 

  • You have sufficient financial resources to bear all expenses of your family in Germany
  • You are a permanent resident in Germany or an EU Blue Card holder
  • You have health insurance coverage
  • You have documents to prove your relationship with your dependents
  • The sponsored family members have a basic knowledge of the German language

 

Note: If you are an EU Blue card holder, your dependents can be exempted from the German language requirement.

 

Documents required to sponsor your family members 

The following are the documents required to sponsor your family members to Germany:

 

  • Original and copies of a valid passport
  • Duly filled application form for the Germany Family Reunification Visa
  • Completed declaration form assuring the accuracy of information provided
  • Biometric details such as photographs and fingerprints
  • Copies of current German residence permit
  • Documents to prove your relationship with the sponsored members
  • Details and ID proofs of sponsors
  • Health Insurance details
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Details of your accommodation in Germany
  • Certificate to prove basic German language proficiency (optional)
  • Additional document as applicable

 

Note: All documents provided must be translated and certified as required by the German consulate or Embassy.
