Canadian work permit holders can apply for a permanent residency through personalized programs for temporary foreign workers, and they include:

 

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC):Under this program, candidates can apply for permanent residency within a year. The eligibility criteria are one year of skilled work experience and meeting the language proficiency. 

 

Requirements in the Canadian Experience Class 

 

  • One year paid skilled work experience
  • Work experience aligns with the type of skill in the TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 categories of job in the NOC.
  • The occupation and the duties match with the candidate’s main NOC.
  • No particular education is required for this program.
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP):Under this program, temporary employees with a job offer from an employer in Canada can apply for a Permanent Residency. This particular offer is known as “arranged employment.” Applicants must meet the requirements based on factors like level of education, age, adaptability, language proficiency, and employment offer. The duration of the process is typically around 12-18 months.

 

Requirements in the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP):

 

  • Applicants must have a valid certification from a Canadian Institution or an ECA report if their education is from a foreign university.
  • Appear for language exams in English or French as required.
  • One year of skilled work experience 
  • Work experience aligns with the type of skill in the TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 categories of job in the NOC.
  • The occupation and the duties match with the candidate’s main NOC.
