Why immigrate to the UK?

  • Several job vacancies
  • Home to a multicultural society
  • Access to subsidized healthcare
  • Paid vacation of 28 days per year
  • Friendly and accommodating people
  • Rich history and culture

All you need to know about an immigrant's life in UK

Before relocating to the United Kingdom as an immigrant, you should make certain preparations. First among them is finding accommodation before you land there. In today's technological world, most people are searching for accommodation online than physically. Log on to one of the UK's top housing associations' websites, such as Clarion Housing Group, Peabody Trust Group, and The Guinness Partnership, among others. When you search for accommodation online, you need not depend on middlemen either.

When browsing the websites, enter the name of the city and postcode to know what's available and their costs. You can then sort through them as per your budget, the location, and the facilities they provide.

You can then visit these potential properties and see if they meet your expectations once you land there. You will then have to finalize a deal with your landlord by showing some of your credentials.

Adjust to the changes in culture

Though the United Kingdom is referred to as a single entity, it comprises four countries - all of which have their governments, cultures, and local accents, among others.

These countries of the United Kingdom, namely England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales, do have certain similarities. In sports, they love soccer, cricket, rugby, etc. Watching television, eating out, going to pubs, reading, and gardening, among others, are their favorite pastimes.

To know about their culture, you can watch a lot of BBC shows and read a lot of literature so that it will help you adjust better to the unified country.

Get a UK bank account

After having joined your job or a study program, you need to open a UK bank account, which will make you feel settled in the country. The top banks in the UK are HSBC Holdings, Standard Chartered, Lloyds Banking Group, and NatWest Group, among others. You can now create an account online and also opt for an account at a physical branch close to your place of accommodation.

You would have to provide your biometric details there and also the proof of your residence by presenting the latest utility bill.

Settling down in the UK

Most people who arrive in the UK on a work visa do so after getting a job offer from a UK-based organization. In case you have entered the island country in West Europe without a job, you can get one by going through sites like LinkedIn. The most popular professions in the UK are engineering, healthcare, information technology, finance and more.

London, the capital of the United Kingdom, is still one of the premier international cities. It is the city with the fourth largest GDP globally.

If you are going alone or with a family, you can use the services of the National Health Service (NHS). You can access its service for free only if you have obtained the status of indefinite leave to remain (ILR).

The UK immigration process

The best ways of moving to the UK are with a job offer from a local company, or settling there through the student path, or marrying or getting engaged to a permanent resident or citizen of the UK.

You can also enter the UK as an entrepreneur by establishing a business or by investing a minimum amount of money.

Work in the UK

The average annual gross salary in the UK varies from £35,000 TO £45,000, the average number of work hours per week is 36.6, and the paid vacation per year is 28 days.
