Nursing jobs in the UK give Indian healthcare professionals one of the clearest and most structured routes to working abroad. The United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS) is one of the largest employers of nurses in the world, and Indian-trained nurses are among the most actively recruited internationally. The NHS continues to actively recruit overseas nurses to fill ongoing workforce shortages, particularly in critical care, emergency, and elderly care specialities.
To practise as a nurse in the UK, candidates must register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) by passing a two-part Test of Competence — the computer-based test (CBT) and the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). The CBT can be taken at a Pearson VUE centre in India; the OSCE is taken in the UK after securing a job offer from an NHS trust or approved healthcare employer.
The UK is home to a well-established Indian diaspora, with familiar food, community networks, and cultural institutions across cities like London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leicester.
