France, officially the French Republic (République Française), is one of the world’s leading global powers—renowned for its rich history, culture, fashion, cuisine, and innovation.
It is a founding member of the European Union and the Schengen Area, offering seamless travel access across Europe.
Currently, France’s population is approximately 68.5–68.9 million, with a GDP of USD 3.16 trillion, ranking among the top 7 global economies.
Major sectors include tourism, fashion, aerospace, manufacturing, education, and technology.
France is the world’s most visited country, welcoming over 90 million international tourists annually, known for destinations such as Paris, the French Riviera, Lyon, Bordeaux, and the Alps.
France offers different types of visit visas, depending on the purpose of the visit and the duration of stay. The French visit visa is mainly categorized into short-stay (Schengen Type C) for visiting family or friends, tourism, and business, and Long-stay (Type D) for extended stays in France.
The Type C Schengen visa is further divided into the following categories:
Long-stay Visa (Type D): You can apply for a long-stay visa if you plan on staying in France for more than 90 days. The France long-stay visa works as a residence permit (VLS-TS), generally valid for 4–12 months. Applications for both Type C and Type D visas start at the official France-Visas portal (france-visas.gouv.fr) before your TLScontact India appointment.
Airport Transit Visa (Type A): The Airport transit Visa is required for specific nationalities who will pass or fly through the international zone of the French airport, without entering the Schengen Area.

To be eligible for a visit visa to France, you must meet the following criteria:
Attestation d'accueil is a formal accommodation certificate uniquely required in France for Indian visitors staying with a French host — friends, family, or other private accommodation. It's a France-specific document; it isn't required by other Schengen countries.
How the host obtains it:
1. The French host (a citizen or legal resident of France) visits their local mairie (town hall)
2. Fills out the attestation d'accueil form
3. Pays a stamp fee of approximately EUR 30
4. The mairie verifies the accommodation is adequate
5. The mairie issues the certificate within a few days
6. The host sends the original to the Indian visitor
7. The Indian applicant includes the original in their France visa application at TLScontact India
Important: The original document is required — photocopies aren't accepted. It must be obtained before the visa application is submitted, and it's valid only for the specific visit dates stated.

The documents required for France visa are as follows:
French Consulate guidance sets two tiers, more specific than the general Schengen EUR 45–75/day range: at least EUR 65 per day if your accommodation is pre-confirmed (≈INR 7,150/day at current rates), or at least EUR 120 per day if accommodation is not pre-confirmed (≈INR 13,200/day). For a 15-day France trip with confirmed accommodation, that's a minimum of roughly EUR 975 (≈INR 1,07,250). Required documents: 6 months of consistent bank statements, ITR for 2 years, salary slips for 3 months, and an employer letter.

Step 1: Payment & Sign-Up: The process begins with payment approval by Y-Axis Accounts. Once payment is confirmed, the client signs up for the selected France Visit Visa service.
Step 2: Agreement & Consultant Assignment: A service agreement is reviewed and signed to confirm deliverables. A dedicated Process Consultant (PC) is then assigned to guide the client through the entire visa process.
Step 3: Document Checklist & Collection: The PC provides a personalized document checklist based on the applicant’s travel purpose and profile. The client submits all required documents as per France-Visas and VFS Global standards.
Step 4: Application Form & File Preparation: The PC assists in completing the France-Visas online form, preparing supporting documents (such as itinerary, financials, and insurance), and ensuring alignment with French Consulate guidelines.
Step 5: Appointment Scheduling (TLScontact India): Once the France-Visas application is complete and signed, the client is guided to book an appointment at the nearest TLScontact India centre (fr.tlscontact.com/in/DEL/) — the exclusive France visa application centre operator in India, not VFS Global — for biometric data collection and document submission.
Step 6: Biometrics & File Submission: The applicant attends the TLScontact India appointment to submit documents, provide fingerprints and a photograph, and pay applicable visa fees. Biometrics remain valid for 59 months for subsequent Schengen applications.
Step 7: Application Processing by the Consulate: The French Consulate or Embassy processes the application, typically within 15–30 working days, depending on the applicant’s profile and travel history.
Step 8: Passport Collection or Delivery: Once a decision is made, the passport can be collected from VFS Global or delivered via courier, containing the Schengen Visa sticker (or a refusal letter if denied).
Step 9: Travel to France: With the visa granted, travellers can visit France and other Schengen countries as permitted under their visa validity and entry conditions.
Note: France Visa in India: TLScontact India — not VFS Global. TLScontact India (fr.tlscontact.com/in/DEL/) is the exclusive France visa application centre operator in India. VFS Global handles Germany, Spain, Greece, and the Netherlands — not France.

The France Circulation Visa is a multi-year Schengen short-stay visa issued by France, with validity of 6 months to 5 years at the French Consulate's discretion — each individual stay remains capped at 90 days in any 180-day period. It rewards frequent Indian travellers who show a consistent France travel pattern, a clean Schengen record, multiple prior France stamps, and strong ties to India.
How it differs from the Cascade Regime: Indians who have used 2 or more Schengen visas in the past 3 years qualify for a 2-year multiple-entry visa under the 2024 Cascade Visa Regime when applying through France. After using that 2-year visa appropriately, they can qualify for a 5-year multiple-entry visa. France's own Circulation Visa can be granted independently of Cascade, and combining a strong Circulation Visa case with Cascade eligibility gives frequent Indian travellers a stronger case for 5-year+ multiple-entry coverage.
