University College London – (UCL), London

University College London, also referred to as UCL, is a public research university in London, United Kingdom. Set up in 1826 as London University, it was the first university in London and also in England to admit students, irrespective of their religion.

Its main campus is in the area of Bloomsbury in London. It has many institutes and teaching facilities in London, besides satellite campuses in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London, and Doha, Qatar. 

It is divided into 11 principal faculties, under which more than 100 departments, institutes, and research centers function. UCL had, in 2019/20, more than 43,800 students and over 7,000 academic staff. The numbers of postgraduate students are slightly higher than ones pursuing undergraduate courses.

Even though UCL is said to be a constituent college of the University of London, it is autonomous in more ways than one with individually funding where its own degrees are awarded. The total tuition fees for the MBA program are £56,998 per year. 

  • Master of Business Administration at the University College London is offered on a full-time basis for duration of 16 months.
  • It is an on-campus program where a part-time program is also included for the students.
  • The MBA will tap the professional experience of students and, in turn, give them an advanced theoretical and analytical understanding of establishments, their management, and the shifting global landscape in which they function.
  • The program commences in the month of September.
  • Students will go through modules to the value of 210 credits.
  • The program comprises seven core modules (105 credits), optional modules worth 45 credits, and a business research project (60 credits).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Students have at least a second-class bachelor’s degree from a UK university or a foreign qualification that is equivalent to at least three years of full-time work experience.
  • A GMAT or GRE, or an equivalent standardized test, is also required. A minimum score of 600 on the GMAT is recommended.
  • Students who come from countries where English is not an official language have to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores or other such tests.

 Indian Students’ eligibility: Students holding a bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 6.75/10, or 55% where a GPA scale is not used. The marks required are based on the subject and ranking of the institution where the degree was granted.

Following are the documents required:

  • Résumé/CV – A detailed outline of a student’s educational qualifications and skills.
  • Certificate of Higher Secondary School – A certificate from the education board of higher secondary education.
  • Marks Statement – The statement of marks from the education board.
  • Letter of Recommendation (LOR) – A letter from the person recommending the student to pursue the degree.
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) – An essay written by the student stating why she/he is applying for this particular course.
  • Score showing proficiency in the English language – The score in an exam such as IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE, etc., to show that the student is proficient in the English language.
