University of Lucerne Switzerland

Founded as the Jesuit College of Lucerne in 1574, the University of Lucerne, or Universität Luzern, or UniLu, a public university, was established in the year 2000. 

It is located amidst beautiful landscapes that include the Swiss Alps and Lake Lucerne.

It has four faculties in economy, law, humanities and social sciences, and theology and offers 14 undergraduate, 25 graduate, and 15 PhD programs.

It follows the Bologna model for its academic system. With a student strength of more than 2,700, it is one of the smallest universities in Switzerland. About 20% of its students are foreign nationals. 

University of Lucerne Ranking

According to QS World University Rankings 2022, it was ranked 601-800 globally. 

Although its main language of instruction is German, it offers many courses in English at the master's level. 

The university, which also encourages interdisciplinary research, has two semesters. The fall semester runs from mid-September to late December, and the spring semester goes on from mid-February to late-June. 

Libraries of all the faculties are all housed under one roof. All the libraries of the University of Lucerne together accommodate 300,000 books andjournals.  

It provides students with cutting-edge researchfacilities.  

The University of Lucerne offers varied sporting activities, including yoga and team sports. The university also has an orchestra, the amateur dramatics society, a cafeteria and café bar, and an on-campus foyer, among others. The departments and student organizations help students actively. 

The tuition fee at UniLu for international students is around $2,470 per year, and the cost of living for them is $1,780 per year.
