University of Fribourg, Switzerland

Located in Fribourg, Switzerland, the University of Fribourg is a public university which was established in 1899. 

The only bilingual Swiss University, the University of Fribourg, offers courses in French as well as German and English for international students in various master’s courses.

It houses five faculties in humanities, law, management, economics, and social sciences, science and medicine, and theology.

The University does not have a main campus but has buildings located throughout Fribourg.

According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, the University is ranked 563 worldwide. 

It is home to more than 11,000 students, of whom over 2,300 are foreign nationals. 

The University of Fribourg Research offers teaching of high standards, interdisciplinary studies, and research opportunities. 

It houses many departments of scientific excellence, allowing its students to expand the boundaries of scientific learning so that they can arrive at solutions to tackle global problems. 

This diverse and multicultural University encourages research in emerging fields of study and is renowned for research in fields such as multilingualism and nanomaterials. The University also houses a National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR). 

As the University of Fribourg is central to the city of Fribourg, it offers students a relaxed and laidback atmosphere. 

It offers for students from all over the world 47 undergraduate, 66 postgraduate, and 66 doctorate programs.   

Fribourg is located against a beautiful backdrop, where remains of a medieval city center coexist with the Alps and Lake Morat. Owing to this, many people throng to this place to partake in sporting and outdoor recreational activities.

Furthermore, the city is also known to hold a lot of cultural festivals every year. Among them are Les Georges, a music festival, an international film festival, and Belluard Bollwerk International, a festival that welcomes international artists – both emerging and renowned - in various disciplines such as dance, theater, music, and visual arts, among others.

The tuition fees at the University of Fribourg begin from $1,770 per year for international students, and the cost of living ranges from €1,670 to €1,980 per month.
