Founded in 1962 as the Institut International de Glion, Glion Institute of Higher Education was initiated by Swiss professors Frédéric Tissot and Walter Hunziker where earlier a Grand Hôtel Bellevue was located in Montreux, Switzerland.

In 2002, it got its current name and became a part of an American education company, Laureate Education. In the year 2016, Eurazeo, a Paris-based transnational private equity company, acquired it.

Renowned across the hospitality sector for its brilliant graduates, it became one of the top three global hospitality management schools.

Glion School has two campuses in Switzerland – the main one in Montreux, Switzerland, and the other in Bulle, in the Gruyère district. Apart from that, it has one more campus in London, England, which was set up in 2013.

Glion is accredited by The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education and also by the New England Commission of Higher Education.

Glion Institute of Higher Education offers MS academic programs in MSc (International Hospitality Business); Master's program in Luxury Management and Guest Experience; Master's program in Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation; and Master's program in Real Estate, Finance, and Hotel Development.

Students at Glion are provided with first-rate physical infrastructure on all three campuses. Top experts in the hospitality industry teach the students at this school. The courses are designed with the objective of developing the students holistically. Besides general education, they will get insights into entrepreneurship, practical arts, and more.

The main campus of Glion Institute of Higher Education, located in Montreux, is located between the Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva. A practical learning center, it houses two operational restaurants for dining in Fresh and Le Bellevue, both of which were opened to the public in 2018.

The campus on Bulle campus is located in the town of Bulle in Switzerland's Gruyère region. This campus can house about 700 students in four lodging buildings. Located on this campus are several restaurants, coffee shops, a study area, and a library.

According to the QS World University Rankings 2023, it is ranked five by subject. It was home to 1,690 students in 2020 across its three campuses, of whom a significant number hail from foreign countries within and outside of the EU and EEA.
