The University of Alberta (Bachelors of Engineering Programs)

 The University of Alberta (U of A), or UAlberta, is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Founded in 1908, the university has four campuses in Edmonton, one in Camrose, and a staff center in Calgary. 

The north campus is the main campus and comprises 150 buildings. In the Faculty of Engineeringundergraduate degrees are offered in the disciplines of chemical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, mining engineering, petroleum engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics, and materials engineering.

The Campuses of the University of Alberta

North Campus (Main): UAlberta’s north campus houses more than 50 city blocks and more than 150 buildings, with several restaurants, cultural spots, and stores. It also accommodates over 400 research laboratories and institutes. There is public transport connecting the campus to the city’s hubs. 

Accommodation to the University of Alberta

The university provides its students with several on-campus and off-campus housing options at reasonable prices.

On-Campus Student Housing:

The university’s on-campus housing option is the Lister Residence which is provided by first-year students. The housing options include furnished, unfurnished, dorms, and apartments where essential facilities are provided, like libraries, laundry, dining halls, and TV rooms.

Students are charged anywhere ranging from CAD 3,800 to CAD 9,555 for eight months.

Scholarships Provided by the University of Alberta

The university offers foreign students various scholarships. The scholarships provided by UAlberta include the International Student Scholarship, the University of Alberta International Country Scholarship, and the International Entrance Leadership Scholarship. 

 

Work-Study Programs at the University of Alberta 

Foreign students at UAlberta can participate in work-study programs without consent.  

Their study permit allows them to work within all the campuses. They can also work with a Social Insurance Number (SIN) if they want to be employed off-campus. This program allows students to work for 20 hours per week and full-time during vacations. They can work full-time once they graduate and have applied for a graduate program.

University of Alberta Alumni

The Alumni Network of the University of Alberta has more than 300,000 members who are spread across the globe. All members of the alumni inevitably become the Alumni Association without any fee. 
All alumni members get auto and health insurance at reasonable rates. They automatically become the university faculty club’s associate members.  

Placements at the University of Alberta 

Alberta Career Centre helps out existing students and recently graduated ones by giving them career assistance.
Foreign students, after graduation, are allowed to work up to three years by using the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which could lead them to a pathway to achieve Permanent Residency.
