How to Apply for a Subclass 402 Visa?

1. Research stream and Occupational Trainee stream

To apply for the Research or Occupational Trainee stream, the candidate or anyone mentioned in the application can be in or out of Australia when they apply:

• Applying from Australia: If the candidate is in Australia, they must submit their application in Australia.
• Applying from outside Australia: If the candidate is out of Australia, they can submit their application out of Australia.

The candidate can be in Australia or out of the country at the time of issuance, irrespective of where the visa was submitted.

2. Professional Development stream

To apply for the Professional Development stream: The candidate must be out of Australia when they apply and when the visa is granted. The sponsor can register the application on behalf of the candidate.
