Author Dan Schawbel has interviewed 2,000 plus most successful CEOs across the world. He has shared his three best pieces of Overseas Career advice. This was in an interview with Zack Friedman the Forbes contributor.
Have several experiences as possible early in your career itself:
The Author said that you will not find your ‘sweet spot’, purpose, and passion until you try diverse projects. This is with a variety of individuals in diverse careers and jobs, added Schawbel.
The experiences will endow the self-awareness, as quoted by the Business Insider. This is needed to make the most authentic and best decisions regarding your work life, said the Author.
Take control of your life and be responsible for your career:
Opportunities do not appear magically in your overseas career. Hope is not a good strategy for your career as well. In the end, you need to make things happen with your efforts. Thus, do not be dependent on others as it is your career and not theirs.
Build your soft skills:
Schawbel said that when we ask Managers what they look for while choosing people for promotion, it is soft skills. These include the ability to prioritize work, communication skills, and teamwork, he added.
You must devote time to connecting with people. Technology must be used for automating and eliminating work that needs to be done. This is for work that does not carry equal significance on par with business relationships.
Dan Schawbel also shared his top leadership lessons in the interview. He explained the way for creating authentic connections at work and discussed the future of work as well.
