Quebec to offer 5000 CSQs to skilled immigrant workers
Posted on April 2, 2018
Quebec will be offering 5000 CSQs or Quebec Selection Certificates to skilled immigrant workers in the period between 1 April 2018 and 15 August 2018. Individuals who are qualified for any one of the immigration programs offered by Quebec are required to apply for the CSQ. After they have obtained the CSQ, they can apply for the Canada PR with the Federal Government of Canada.
Quebec has also announced that it will be making fundamental changes to the immigration rules. It is expected that these will be revealed in summer 2018, as quoted by the CIC News.
Quebec has 2 immigration categories for Skilled Immigrant Workers. These are the – Skilled Worker Program Quebec QSW, and Experience Class Quebec PEQ. The application intake policies for 2017 have been extended for Skilled Worker Program Quebec. According to the changed rules, the Ministry of Immigration, Diversity, and Inclusion can accept applications for CSQs from 5000 skilled immigrant workers till 15 August 2018.
Applications for the QSW program are accepted only during a specified period. There has been no intake for past 1 year. It is thus likely that the Skilled Worker Program Quebec will accept applications until the 15 August 2018.
It must be noted here that Skilled Overseas Workers also have certain exemptions. Candidates for CSQ who possess a valid job offer are exempt from the 5000 application limit. Even immigrants residing as provisional workers and overseas students are also exempted from the ceiling. These can submit an application for CSQ any time.
Candidates who are qualified for the PEQ program also enjoy exemption from the upper limit of 5,000 applications as well as the intake periods. Quebec province also has diverse immigration programs for overseas business immigrants.
