Why work in Europe?

  • Higher salaries when compared to Asian countries
  • Better work-life balance
  • Travel within the continent without a visa
  • Enjoy paid  vacation once in every year
  • Opportunity to learn foreign languages

How to get a job in Europe from India?

Are you thinking of migrating to Europe to work there? If yes, you need to know what the visa requirements are, what the in-demand jobs are, what the application process is, and which the best countries to work in Europe are.

Before getting a job in Europe from India, you need to do the following.

Work Visa requirements for Europe

For non-EU residents, European visa conditions from India are tougher than they are for their European Union (EU) counterparts.

Individuals belonging to a country in the EU can work without a work visa in any other country in that bloc.

In 25 EU Member States, highly skilled individuals from non-EU countries can work with the EU Blue Card, which is a valid work permit. This card gives these people the right to live and work. The countries that do not accept the EU Blue Card are Denmark and Ireland.

Eligibility criteria for EU Blue Card

  • You need to show evidence that you have higher professional qualifications, including a university degree.
  • Certain EU member countries also accept a minimum of five years of relevant skilled experience;
  • You need to work as an employee with a company or organization;
  • Your annual gross salary must be at least €56,400- except in certain cases where the lower salary ceiling is applicable;
  • You need to show that you have a job offer or a work contract in a country in the EU for a minimum of one year;
  • You need to have the essential travel papers, besides health insurance for yourself and any accompanying family members or relatives entering the EU with you.

In-demand jobs in Europe

According to research, the sectors that have the most job opportunities are construction, healthcare, and information technology. People working in fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and experienced doctors and nurses have better opportunities of getting a job there.

There are portals on which you can learn about the existing skill shortages in specific European countries or the qualified workers they are on the lookout for.

Researching job opportunities

Be open to all types of job opportunities in Europe before you start applying for employment in Europe. Go through work opportunities available in Europe that suit you and apply to them if you feel you are appropriate as per your educational qualifications and skills.

Commence networking

You stand a better opportunity to get a job in Europe if you have a large professional network. Attend meetings or sessions relevant to your discipline. Influential contacts will go a long way in helping you get an attractive job.

Eligibility criteria for European employment are as follows:

  • Valid passport
  • Completed Application form
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Travel health insurance
  • Proof of accommodation
  • A job offer letter from an employer in EU
  • Proof of academic qualifications
  • Proof of proficiency in the local language
  • Health and conduct certificates
  • Applying through online job portals

To know the employment requirements of different European companies, go through various jobs that you can access through different job websites.

Certain career portals specialize in providing job seekers with jobs in niche areas, helping you provide a deeper insight into job openings in Europe by browsing through job portals suited to your educational qualifications and capabilities.

Apply to multinational companies

Most multinational corporations will have their footprints across Europe, providing you with a better opportunity to get a lucrative job in a European country. Such companies also need foreign nationals with English language proficiency, educational qualifications, and work experience necessary to hire for suitable positions.

It is not hard to land a job for an Indian in Europe with the required educational qualifications and work experience. If you adopt a well-planned job search approach, it will not be that tough to find a job in Europe.

Since the EU is multilingual, try to pick up language skills before you plan to migrate there. This skill will, in fact, help you land a job more quickly as non-English speaking countries need people who can communicate in their local languages. It will also help you integrate better with the locals in their respective countries.
