The Trump Govt. has increased the scrutiny on H1B visas and further plans to implement a ban on H4 visa holder from working in the US. Canada took this opportunity to aggressively suck out top tech workers from Silicon Valley and other such tech-rich regions of the US.
According to the Pew Research Center, employers in Dallas-Fort Worth use the most number of H1Bs. They received around 74,000 H1B visas between 2010 and 2016, as quoted by The Dallas News.

The Trump Government’s plan to overhaul the H1B has created a lot of uncertainty for many talented foreign tech workers.

Long wait-times for Green cards and uncertainty over US Visas was already causing a brain drain in the US long before the Trump Govt. However, experts say that the current US immigration climate has made Canada more attractive for many tech workers.
