The economy of Queensland in Australia is projected to add 1 million extra jobs by 2038. This has been revealed by the exclusive update by CSIRO Data61. The report assesses the opportunities and risks for Queensland for the next 20 years.
The next 2 decades are expected to be filled with swift changes, says the report. This will be due to a disruption in technology and other economic and social driving forces. It also identifies the roadmap that will best favor the Australian state in the future.
The ‘Innovation Imperative’ is the Q-Foresight program’s first report, as quoted by the Man Monthly. It is a joint research collaboration between Data61 and the Queensland Government. This is with the aim of informing planning and strategy for the long term.
The landscape for communities, governments, and businesses in Queensland is being reshaped. This is owing to digitization, cultural change, emerging global markets, technology, and other megatrends.
The 1 million extra jobs could be in areas that complement the latest technology. It could also be in roles with a distinct human focus such as Customer Service or Caring. Some of them will also be occupations that are currently unforeseen.
The report elaborates that crucial opportunities exist for organizations and people in Queensland. They can capture new value as well as take part in developing fresh global export markets.
The analysis by CSIRO Data61 identifies areas there are opportunities for Queensland to transition to a digitally enabled economy. This is where technology could be utilized for accelerating productivity and augmenting jobs.
