Latest constituency wise analysis of YouGov has revealed that Theresa May’s Conservative party could actually reduce its current tally of 330 seats in the Parliament to 310 and lose 20 seats, as quoted by The Hindu. Theresa May was under intense pressure after a new poll also revealed that it could be a hung parliament for the UK with the Conservative party, in fact, falling short of required majority in the June 8 snap elections. Though Theresa May has an approval rating of 43% as per the YouGov poll held by The Times, the campaign against her is gathering momentum and a song protesting against her policies titled ‘Liar Liar’ is at the top of charts on the UK iTunes, currently at number two position. With less than a week for the snap general elections in the UK, the Conservative party’s lead over the main rival Labor party continues to diminish as the latest poll gave merely a lead of 3 points. Theresa May also suffered the result of her decision to not to participate in the broadcast debate that witnessed participation of all major parties except the Scottish National Party. In this debate, Theresa May sent Ms. Rudd as her representative who failed in her attempts to bring back the focus of the electoral debate on Brexit. The debate quickly transitioned to immigration, poverty in the UK and foreign policies. The leader of the Labor party Corbyn received applause from the debate audience when he questioned Ms. Rudd regarding having ever visited a food bank in the UK. Short-term supplies are distributed by the food banks to needy individuals in the UK who cannot afford to purchase enough to avoid hunger. The usage of food banks has increased sharply over the last few years. Even on the issue of national security, the Conservative party found it difficult to maintain a lead as the position parties condemned the reduction of police forces in the last seven years during which the Conservative party was in power.
