Malta exceeds the EU average employment rate of 83.5%, implying that this country offers the highest chance of securing a job offer for recent graduates. Other EU countries that follow Malta are the Netherlands, Iceland, Germany, and Austria. The overall employment rate in recent EU graduates has also risen over the last ten years and reached around 84% in 2023.

Highly Skilled Workers Needed in Malta
 

Malta needs highly skilled professionals for in-demand job roles. The country has recently launched the SEI (Specialist Employe Initiative). This is an option for skilled third-country nationals (TCNs) who are otherwise ineligible for the Key Employee Initiative but possess relevant skills and work experience required for the job role in Malta.

A Maltese government agency named Identita reported that only TCNs who have an employment contract with companies registered with Malta can apply under this scheme.
