After the Indian central government gave a go-ahead to introduce e-TVOA (e-Tourist Visa on Arrival) at the Visakhapatnam International Airport, it will be inaugurated by N. Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, on 16 December.
Currently, the e-Tourist Visa facility allows tourists to arrive in India from 147 countries at 16 airports in India – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Amritsar, Goa, Gaya, Kochi Jaipur, Kolkata and Tiruchi.
This facility at the Vizag airport will allow foreign tourists to arrive in Visakhapatnam and AP.
Moreover, tourists entering India from Cambodia, Finland, Japan, Laos, Luxembourg, Indonesia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapore, the Philippines and Vietnam do/ not require e-Visa or Visa ahead of their travel as they can obtain the TVOA (Tourist Visa on Arrival) at eight airports of Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.
This was made possible after Kambhapati Haribabu, Visakhapatnam MP and BJP State president, had sent a proposal in April 2016 to Home as well as External Affairs ministries, following a representation from the TTAA (Tours and Travels Association of Andhra). Sushma Swaraj, the Union Minister, had given an reply assurance in to the MP in the same month that the matter was sent to examination by her.
While thanking the P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Minister of Civil Aviation, the AP Chief Minister and Haribabu for launching the e-TVOA facility, O. Naresh Kumar, TTAA Chairman, and K. Vijay Mohan, its president, also sought early launch of TVOA in Vizag to promote tourism in the south Indian state.
