Visas, Flights and Travel information for India explained Planning for an Indian summer? Ensure that you apply for the right visa before booking your flight tickets! India is a vast and culturally diverse country with some breathtaking sights any traveller would love to experience. Starting from the desert dunes of Rajasthan to the merry beaches of Goa and the epitome of everlasting love – The Taj Mahal, this country is a must in an avid traveller’s bucket list! Travelling to India requires you to apply for a visit visa unless you are an Indian Citizen. You can access all the information at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s (FCO) website, to know which visa is the right one for you. Certain countries are eligible to apply for an e-Tourist Visa if they fly down to certain destinations in the country. Ensure that you know your correct category of citizenship as certain categories are not eligible to apply for an e-TV. In addition to this, your passport has to be machine readable, else you would be required to apply for a visa at twice the price through the usual visa process. To avail an e-TV, visit www.indianvisaonline.gov.in where you can apply and pay and submit an online visa application, after which, your visa will arrive through email. Fees are applicable on a country-specific basis which ranges between from no charges to a maximum fee of £46 for British citizens. Currently, the e-TV is valid for a period of 30 days and restricts your entry through select 16 airports. You are, however, allowed to leave the country via any of the authorised check posts for immigration in the country. In addition to the above checks, you should have a passport with validity for six months from the expected date of arrival in India with at least two blank pages left for visa stamping. Should you not be eligible for an e-TV, you can apply for one via the Indian High Commission in your country. Most airlines fly to India’s top five Airport destinations, namely: Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Interested in travelling abroad?
