The visa rules for Indian nationals have been relaxed by UAE and it announced that this was being done in order to boost the bilateral ties with India. Ahmed Albanna United Arab Emirates Ambassador to India released a statement that the UAE Government has decided to offer Indian passport holders possessing residence visa from the EU and the UK the visa on arrival.
This move is intended to be the chief catalyst for people-to-people friendly ties between India and the United Arab Emirates, added the Ambassador to India.
Ahmed Albanna elaborated on this announcement by saying that the ties between India and UAE are becoming stronger. He added that every day a new aspect of the bilateral ties between both the nations is evolving, as quoted by the Hindustan Times.
The Ambassador said that the simplified visa rules decision was in furtherance of the first visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan the Crown Prince of UAE to India in 2016. Both the nations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for mutual visa waivers. This visa exemption for visas was applicable to be applicable for those nationals who possess official, special and diplomatic passports. It was inked during the second visit of the UAE Crown Prince to India in January 2017 on the occasion of Republic Day.
It was also announced by the Government of UAE earlier this year that Indian nationals with a valid US Visa or Green Card will be qualified to avail the visa on arrival in UAE. The Ambassador said in the statement that more measures would be taken in the future. These will be aimed at enhancing trade, economic, political ties over long-term between both the nations.
