Canada has abolished the visa waiver for nationals of Barbuda and Antigua and has enforced visa requirement for them with immediate effect from 27 June 2017. From now onwards any existing Electronic Travel Authorization for the nationals of Barbuda and Antigua stands ineffective. The individuals of this nation who had earlier obtained an ETA will be no longer in a position to avail the same for arriving in Canada.
The visa requirement for nationals of Barbuda and Antigua has been enforced by Canada as it has now determined that this tiny nation in the Caribbean no longer fulfills the eligibility of enjoying visa exemption.
The press release of the government of Canada said that Canada will continue to welcome travelers from Barbuda and Antigua and at the same time protect the integrity of the Canadian immigration system and assuring the security of Canadians, as quoted by the CIC News.
Permitted applicants of Canada visa usually receive the visa authorizing multiple arrivals to Canada as per their requirements for a maximum period of 10 years.
People who have made their travel arrangements prior to July 11, 2017, will be given priority at the closest visa office to Barbuda and Antigua at Trinidad and Tobago’s Port of Spain office.
Nationals of Barbuda and Antigua who are currently studying or working in Canada may reside in Canada till the time of validity of their authorization of the study or work permit.
The validity of visitor records, work, and study permits remain unaltered. On the other hand, people who intend to move out of Canada and then once again enter the nation will, however, have to apply for the visa to come back to Canada.
