French Ambassador to India Francois Richier has extended a gift to Indians intending to visit the French Island of Reunion. Indians do not need a visa to stay in the Indian Ocean island for upto 15 days!
Reunion is a French island in the Indian Ocean off the island of Madagascar, popular with the tourists for its magnificent beaches, impressive cliffs, and grandiose landscapes where one can find a wide variety of flora and fauna interspersed with mountainous and volcanic relief. A quaint mix of Chinese, Indian and African cooking lends another world charm to the cuisine and culture of the place. In addition 40% of its territory has been declared as UNESCO World Heritage site with 20% of its vibrant community being Indians.
The no-visa offer by the French was taken to promote France as a preferred destination for Indian tourists. Indian tourists will be provided a free visa upon arrival (VoA) at the airport having a validity of 15 days. This offer is valid if the trip is organized through a French approved travel agency. For more information on the selected list of travel agencies, visit the French Embassy website.
Further an application for smartphones and tablets has also been designed exclusively for Indian tourists travelling to France. The free app provides information on the details of tourist spots, shopping areas, currency conversion, restaurants and English to French and French to English language translations.
