Nomination applications continue to be accepted by Victoria for state sponsorship for various visas.
Victoria, a state in the south-east of Australia, shares its borders with South Australia in the west and New South Wales to the north. Melbourne is the capital of Victoria.
A nomination from a state government in Australia makes it easier for an individual to successfully meet the requirements for an Australian visa.
An application submitted through SkillSelect can be viewed by the Australian state as well as territory government agencies. These can decide to nominate the applicant for a visa.
It is through a nomination that the state/territory informs the Department of Home Affairs that the skills and experience that the applicant holds are needed in their particular state or territory.
Certain Australian visas require a nomination from either a state or territory government.
Victoria offers a nomination to selected skilled immigrants, businesspeople and investors that have skills and experience needed to aid in making the industries in Victoria globally competitive.
Visa sponsorship is like a support that a state or territory in Australia can provide a visa applicant with.
No charge is involved for securing a visa nomination with Victoria.
From April 9, Victoria’s visa nomination program for subclass 188 and 132 will be on hold for the remaining duration of 2019-20. Applications already received prior to April 9 will be processed as usual. New applications will be accepted in the Financial Year 2020-2021.

Do note that applying for a Victorian nomination is not a visa application. The applicant must apply for a visa with the Department of Home Affairs.
