South Africa Work visas

The South Africa Work visas have four categories: General Work visa, ICT –Intra Company transfer Visa, Corporate visa and Critical skills visa. ICT visas are generally used by MNCs to transfer personnel across the globe. Corporate visas are utilized to import expert skills for huge projects in infrastructure and low skills immigrant labor. Overseas immigrants with specific skills can arrive at South Africa irrespective of the job offer through the Critical skills visa.

Rules for one of the categories of South Africa Work visas the General Work visa have been updated. The applicants of this visa are now required to obtain a certificate from the Labor Department. It must state that the salary and benefits are on par with that of nationals of South Africa.

South Africa General Work Visa:

It is generally appreciated that this kind of visa still exists. However, the process for this visa has become more tedious. The time to apply for this visa also has increased. The new rules mandate evaluation from SAQA for qualifications of every applicant.

The certificate from the Labor Department is also required. It confirms that the employer of the applicant was unable to find a local resident for the job. Evidence of a proper search for the citizen or PR holder in South Africa has to be given. These certificates took around 6 months in the past.

The salary and qualifications of the visa applicant are also considered. It is also verified if the employment contract complies with labor laws in South Africa. The positive aspect of this visa is that repatriation deposits are no longer required to be paid, as quoted by the Immigration South Africa.

South Africa Critical Skills Work Visa:

Exceptional Skills Work Permit and Quota Work Permit have been replaced by the Work Visa for Critical Skills. It is based on the similar documents required for a General work visa. In addition, it requires confirmation of the skills of the applicant by the relevant professional body. Proof of application with such a body for the registration certificate must also be given.

The repatriation fee is no longer required to be paid. The validity of the Critical Skills Work Visa is 5 years. It can also be extended easily. It is also free of binding to an employer in line with the earlier Exceptional Skills Permit.
