US H-1B Visa holders have strong chances of Canadian PR through economic immigration. These immigrants are in a good position to move to Canada if they choose to do so. Based on their profiles they can opt for applying for the Canadian PR through the economic immigration pathway. They can also opt for working provisionally at the northern border.
There is ample ambiguity over the H-1B visas. This has resulted in some experts to forecast that these immigrants could exit the US and move to Canada.
Global Talent Stream was launched by the Canadian Government in 2017 June. It offers to process certain Work Permits within 14 days. For this, the employer in Canada must have been referred by a designated partner to the Global Talent Stream.
Alternatively, the employer must be recruiting an overseas worker identified on the occupations list of Global Talent. Many of the occupation identified in this list are from the IT industry.
Economic immigration programs of Canada are divided into three categories:
National Skilled Worker
National Skilled Trades
Canada Experience Canada
Skilled workers in the US residing through the H-1B visas are in most cases tipped to cater to the requirements of the National Skilled Worker program.
Apart from the GTS and the 3 economic immigration programs, provinces in Canada also offer skilled overseas workers the pathways for Canadian PR. The application procedures and eligibility requirements are diverse for different provinces.
You can apply for a nomination from a province if you qualify for its Provincial Nominee Program. This will incur you 600 CRS points in the Express entry pool. Successful candidates can apply to the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada for Canada PR.
