US Green Card For all the overseas aspirants of the ‘US Dream’ choosing a US Green Card visa is always a wise decision rather than opting for the US work permit. Here is an exhaustive and crystal clear analysis that will make sense of this choice. US Green Card visa requires an investment between 1 to 2 lakh at diverse stages depending upon the success or failure of the application. The US work permit requires an investment of 1 to 3 lakh. The eligibility assessment for Green card visa is objective which means that your success is dependent on your scores. However, the eligibility is assessed on a subjective basis for the work permit. The processing times for Green card are well calculated while for the work permit the processing times are irregular. Moreover, the Green card is a direct application to the US government which is not the case for a work permit as it is an application dependent on a private employer firm. The applicants who are successful in their Green card visa are guaranteed right to arrive at the US and employability not just for the applicant but for his/her entire family. The work permit, on the other hand, has no such privileges and the job is not guaranteed. The immigration consultant for the US Green Card visa deals only with the Skills Assessment and Immigration Authorities and is not dependent on any overseas employer. But the job agent is solely dependent on a private employer firm for the work permit. The employability through the Green card is permanent and the whole job market is accessible to you. This is not the case with the work permit as the job is provisional and the employer is unidentified. The Green card gives the freedom of working with any employer of your choice while the work permit has a restricted particular employer. Green card visa holders need not return to India in case they lose the job. But the individuals possessing the work permit must return to Indian upon losing their job. Overseas immigrants who receive the Green Card have the freedom to be employed in any job in the US. They can also be accompanied with their wife and children who also get the visa along with the applicant of Green card and are also eligible to be employed. On the other hand, overseas immigrants who receive the work permit are confined to a single job description and cannot be accompanied with any family members. Family members will have to apply for a separate visa if they intend to accompany the work permit holder. They also are not eligible for employment in the US. Applicants of US Green card visa deal with the US government through the immigration consultant. Upon successful processing of the visa application, they receive the Green Permit, Permanent Work permit, and permanent visa. They are treated on par with US nationals and can apply for the US citizenship within 3 to 5 years. However, the applicants of work permit are dealing with two private entities – the immigration consultant and the overseas employer. If successful in the visa application they receive a work authorization and visa and both are temporary. They also remain just overseas immigrants in the US. Green card visa holders pass on their rights and privileges inheritance to the spouse and children. This is not the case with immigrants who possess work permit and their spouse and children have no rights for the continuation of the visa.
