US Capitol will host a gathering of Indo-Americans elected officers, philanthropists, and leaders next week for the first time. It will also include 80 members from the community who are contesting the elected officials in the mid-term elections scheduled in November this year.

California Senator Kamala Harris will be delivering the keynote address for this first time US Capitol gathering of Indo-Americans. She is the first ever Indo-origin to be elected as a US Senator, as quoted by the Economic Times.

A former White House official from the Obama administration Gautam Raghavan said that the community is thrilled to host this first ever kind of gathering. It will have a galaxy of political strategists, community leaders, philanthropists, and elected officials, he added.

The gathering at the US Capitol on June 6 will be a daylong meeting organized by the newly founded Indo-American Impact Project. It is expected to witness participation of over 200 plus delegates from the community. This will feature panel discussions focusing on ways to enhance the political power of the Indo-American community, said Raghavan.

Raghavan further added that it is an honor that US Senate members Harris and Booker will be participating and offer the keynote address. Senator Kamala Harris is a great inspiration source for the community. It holds good for all immigrants and color people, he added.

US Senate member Booker represents the US state that has the third highest population of the Indo-Americans community. He has been a resolute partner to the community all along his career, said Raghavan.

Gautam Raghavan added that the Indo-Americans community looks forward to heat from both these leaders regarding the significance of civic and political engagement.
