US bills on H-1B, L-1 Visas are worrisome for India said, Vijay Kumar Singh, the Minister of State for External Affairs and added that the concerns have been conveyed to the US administration led by Trump.
H-1B, L-1 Visas are both non-immigrant visas that are utilized by overseas workers to be employed in the US. L-1 visas permit overseas firms to transfer managers and executives as well as business owners to the US for 7 years. L-1B visas, on the other hand, authorize employees with expert knowledge to immigrate to the US and work there for 5 years for an existing or new office in the US.
H-1B visas permit the firms in the US to hire overseas graduate workers, as quoted by the Workpermit. It is especially applicable for jobs that demand technical or theoretical expertise in specialized areas such as IT for 6 years.
Vijay Kumar Singh the Minister of State for External Affairs was replying to queries in the Rajya Sabha regarding H-1B, L-1 Visas. He assured that in spite of 6 bills being tabled in the US Congress for H-1B, L-1 Visas the Trump administration has not made any major changes in policy.
Mr. Singh further elaborated that even though these bills are related to H-1B, L-1 Visas none of them have been passed in the US Congress. No major policy changes have also been made effective clarified Mr. Singh.
The majority of the H-1B visas recipients are skilled workers from India, especially in the IT sector. The draft bills pertaining to these visas have obviously caused worry in the IT sector in India. The issue of H-1B, L-1 Visas was raised by Anand Sharma the Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha.
