Australia Partner Visas

Australia Partner Visas appear to be simple but the process is complex and there are some aspects which many applicants are actually not aware of.

Submitting an application prior to the marriage:

Australia Partner Visas applications under the Subclass 309 visas permit submitting applications on the basis of only the intention of entering wedlock. However, this is not the case if you are submitting the application through the Subclass 820 Visa. For this visa, the applicants must have been married before submitting the application.

Relation register is intricate than it appears to be:

Registering the relationship enables the applicants to demonstrate their relationship de-facto. This will make them eligible for the Australia Partner Visas even if they have not lived together for one year. But this option is more intricate actually. In spite of registering applicants will still have to provide evidence for the relationship. Failing to do so can result in the application being rejected.

Economic interrelationship:

Economic interrelationship is equally important as cohabitation for Australia Partner Visas. Several applications are delayed and even get rejected owing to weakness in this area. Even though details of a shared bank account are offered, this is of no use until both the partners are its active users. Shared insurance policies such as vehicle insurance are good evidence.

Legal statements from family:

Australia Partner Visas application mandates furnishing two legal statements through Form 888 of the Department of Immigration. These are actually very crucial documents. Friends or family members providing these declarations must be a national of Australia, or Permanent Resident or a qualified national of New Zealand. Form 888 given by provisional residents or non-residents will be inadequate, as quoted by the ACACIA AU.

Online furnishing of application:

Submitting the applications for Australia Partner Visas online is better than paper applications. However, there are certain aspects to be remembered. All documents must be uploaded at the earliest after furnishing the application. Failure to do so can result in refusal of applications. There is a limit to the maximum size of the attachments and compression must not make them illegible. The numbers of attachments that can be uploaded are also fixed.

Applications ready for decision:

Earlier the Immigration Department processed the Australia Partner Visas in the order of their receipt. However, in the recent past, this is not the case now. In its place applications that are ready for decision are processed and allocated faster. As the processing times can go up to even 18 months and more, applications ready for decision are more important now.

Non-Visa Applicants character:

It is a well-known fact that Australia Partner Visas mandate police clearances for members of the family who are above 16 years of age and included in the application. Many are unaware that others who are not applicants may also need to offer the clearances from police.
