UK

As it launched its annual #BEATthepeak campaign, the United Kingdom is encouraging Indian travellers to utilize the post-dated visa offer of UK Visa Information (UKVI’s), enabling visitors to apply three months ahead of their scheduled date of travel and freeze their visa dates when they want to travel. Applicants for visitor visas can now avail services at the less crowded VACs (Visa Application Centres) and it also gives them a choice of benefitting from more appointment slots during the non-peak period.

With this post-dated service, Indian travellers to the UK can apply for their visas on their planned travel date. People who apply for visas three months in advance can still keep them valid for six months when they actually travel.

Sir Dominic Asquith KCMG, the British High Commissioner to India, launched the 2018 BEAT the peak campaign, which will see an array of activities being commenced led by the UK High Commission, the objective of which is to interact with the tourist market of Indians and lure them to visit Britain.

Sir Dominic Asquith said was quoted by the Asian News International as saying that 2017 was a year which saw records being broken for the UK-India ties, as the highest number of Indians ever travelled to Britain. The year ending September 2017 saw more than half a million visas being issued to Indians, with visit visas alone increasing by 11 percent when compared to the year prior to it.

Saying that it was great news for both the nations, he added that Indians will travel in hundreds of thousands in 2018 as well. A faster visa process has been implemented for people applying three months ahead of their travel date, allowing them to overcome the summer peak in the months of April and May.

Tricia Warwick, VisitBritain’s Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa Interim Director said that they wanted the UK to be a must-visit destination for Indian visitors. She said an important aspect of their tourism offer was to make travelling to the UK easier.

Warwick said that Indian visitors will now be offered great value with their shops, hotels and attractions.
