UK Businesses are struggling to fill job vacancies and a crisis looms large on industrial estates, business parks and construction projects in the nation. The politics is getting dominated by the Brexit and is diverting the energy of the UK government practically from every other issue. Meanwhile, UK Businesses are finding it tough to fill job vacancies and locate the personnel needed for growth.
Shortages of labor have reached acute levels for some sectors, as quoted by the Guardian. This is due to several factors that include UK nationals being employed at record levels. It is further deteriorated by the crucial decrease in immigration due to fall of Sterling in 2016 and the complete absence of professionals in certain areas.
The survey by the UK Chambers of Commerce has revealed that almost 3/4ths of the firms are facing tough times in recruitment. This is the highest level post records being maintained for more than last 25 years, it added.
What is needed now is a practical solution to this immediate and acute issue. Job vacancies at all levels in the labor market are remaining unfilled. This is damaging not just the business owners and their growth but the supply chains and the economy of the UK as well.
Several firms in the UK have said that they are investing in the development and training of their workers on a long-term basis. But this will take many years for the required impact to occur and this is even truer for riles that are highly skilled. Shortages in the supply of labor and skills are not at all affordable for the UK businesses.
It is beyond all doubts that firms in the UK need constant admittance of workers from the EU as well as outside the EU to cater to the shortages of skills and workers.
