The United Arab Emirates has offered 1-day entry visa to transit passengers and will permit sightseeing to them. They will be allowed to visit tourist attractions in the nation. The general policy in this regards was approved by the UAE Cabinet. Thus 1-day entry visa will now be offered to transit passengers.
The fresh policy aims to enhance the procedures for transit visas. This is to ensure that transit passengers can exit the airport and visit top tourist attractions, as quoted by Little India.
The 1-day entry visa can be availed by passengers that transit through any of the airports in UAE. It has been reported that 70% + of the total passengers in 2017 who departed via airports in UAE were transit passengers.
The proposal to permit entry of transit passengers to the tourist attractions in the UAE was announced in March this year. Dubai Media Office had said in a tweet that the transit time of passengers will be diverted towards tourism. They will be encouraged to exit the airport to have a glimpse of the city. Dubai attracts almost 14.9 million visitors every year and the target is 20 million by 2020.
The new policy for transit passengers will decide the fees for the visa; explore ways to expand the transit passengers’ numbers. It will also deliberate on diverse methods to promote the Tourism in UAE.
The UAE Cabinet has formed a Working Group to prepare the new policy and it is headed by the Federal Authority for Citizenship and identity. The move has been welcomed by many residents. They have said that this policy will permit them to take their friends and relatives for sightseeing.
