After three years Bangkok again emerges as the top destination for international visitors

The annual report of the MasterCard’s international destinations has revealed that Bangkok has once again emerged as the most visited city in the world. This not surprising as it has remained in the top three slots ever since MasterCard launched the publication of most visited destinations for every year.

There was an increase of thirteen percent in the arrival of tourists to Bangkok for the years 2015 and 2016. Tokyo was one more city that was reported of having a significant increase in the arrival of tourists with ninth rank.

Bangkok has been the focal point for tourists to the South East Asian country of Thailand and it appears that the military overthrow of 2014 has virtually no influence on the tourism sector. For the year 2016, Thailand has earned revenue of 2.4 trillion baht from the tourism industry and this 5 percent more than the actual target of baht 2.3 trillion.

The increase in the number of tourists arriving in Bangkok is a result of the support extended by the government to the tourism sector. It has been conducting diverse campaigns to promote the tourism sector. The government has also introduced several liberalists and pro-traveler policies such as visa waivers, reduction of visa fees and increasing the stay approval for long-term visas from one year to ten years.

Airports of Thailand Plc has already planned measures to cater to the increase in the number of tourists. It has planned an expenditure of baht 194 billion for the next 15 years to develop the six airports so that they can cater to 150 million travelers against the existing 71 million tourists.

It has also planned to provide connectivity between mass transit lines in Bangkok and the Don Muang Airport, connecting it to Suvarnabhumi Airport, as quoted by Nation multimedia.

Tourists find that Bangkok has immense value for their money in spite of the appreciation of Thai currency against diverse major global currencies. Bangkok has the reasonable cost of accommodation when compared to the other top five cities and this permits the tourists to spend on other cost heads.

The taxi fares in Bangkok are also reasonable and cost ten percent lower when compared to other top cities such as Zurich. Though traffic is an issue in Bangkok, there are abundant taxis which do not make any traveler wait for the taxi. For those tourists who wish to avoid traffic blues, the MRT and BTS provide expedient transportation to several popular destinations in Bangkok.

The exotic and spicy cuisine of Thailand is relished by a majority of the tourists who arrive in Bangkok and that too much lower than they would find in their native cities.
