The UK Prime Minister Theresa May has described the temporary immigration ban imposed by US President Donald Trump as incorrect and disruptive after her initial refusal to criticize the order.
After being pressurized by the Labour party’s Leader of opposition Jeremy Corbyn, May gave her statement in the British Parliament that Government of UK was very clear that the immigration policy initiated by US President Trump was wrong, as quoted by the Times of India.
Speaking to the Members of Parliament for the first time after the travel ban was imposed by Trump; May said that the immigration ban ordered by the US President was incorrect and disruptive.
Theresa May also said that she had no prior idea of the ban orders of Trump. Replying to the questions raised by Corbyn, May said that she had also no prior awareness that the immigration ban order would affect even the UK nationals.
The immigration ban has evoked worldwide mass agitations and was spontaneously criticized by the United Nations and several nations including France and Germany.
However, May had initially refused to disapprove the immigration ban by saying that the US had its prerogative to decide the course of its own refugee program. But she later issued a statement that she does not agree with the ban orders.
A signature campaign has also been held in the UK that amassed around 1.8 million signatures demanding the withdrawal of the state visit invitation to President Trump.
The Foreign Minister of Belgium Didier Reynders has termed the immigration ban orders as brutal and hasty. Several leaders in Europe are also worried due to the criticism of NATO by Trump. Trump said that the transatlantic armed treat was outdated at a juncture when it is the only main resistance against Vladimir Putin of Russia.
